HVAC As A Career

You may not be entirely familiar with what HVAC technicians do, HVAC technicians are those who come to your home when you call your local heating and cooling company to come fix your air conditioner. Once on site, they install, maintain, and repair heating and cooling systems.
A day in the life of an HVAC technician usually looks something like this:
- Troubleshooting the source of the problem to determine repairs
- Repair or replace defective or broken down parts
- Inspect and maintain heating and cooling equipment
- Install electrical wiring and controls
- Connect air conditioners/furnaces to fuel and water supply lines, air ducts, etc.
- Install or repair HVAC systems
- Clean ducts
- Replace filters

It’s easy to take indoor comfort for granted, but it’s HVAC technicians who keep systems running day and night. In addition to the skills needed above HVAC technicians must adhere to government regulations regarding handling and recycling refrigerants, including the proper handling of various other fluids and pressurized gases.
