Marge & Jack
Founders
Retired entrepreneur, Jack Ryan, started Genz-Ryan along with Louis Genz and Jack’s mother, Rose in 1950. Louis
Genz had been a long time friend of the family, having worked with Jack’s father, Michael, long ago. The way
Jack sees it, good old competition landed him a chance at owning his own company. You see, Jack was in high
demand back then and was sought after by the competition. Louis Genz, realizing Jack’s potential, knew he had
to make him an offer he couldn’t refuse so he asked him to go into business with him. Louis Genz retired in
1967, and out of respect for his long friendship, Jack has kept the Genz name in his business. About this time,
Marge, Jack’s wife, started working the family business. Her contribution in the administration and payroll of
Genz-Ryan was enormous and helped grow the company to the 265 persons it is today.

Bob Ryan
Co-Owner
Bob Ryan, co-owner of Genz-Ryan, lives in Farmington. He remembers growing up in the upstairs of the original
Genz-Ryan shop in Rosemount when the business was just starting. Bob has held many positions in the family
business, ranging from ditch digging to his current job in finance and administration. He can’t pinpoint one
important event in his time with Genz-Ryan, because there are too many to list. He feels fortunate to be
involved in a family business that employs people who are more than employees; they are extensions of the
Genz-Ryan family.

six boys, he holds his own by bringing finance and operations expertise to the family business. Before
graduating from college with a double major in Finance and Accounting, Jon remembers cleaning toilets as a ten
year old and knew there was no where to go but up! On July 7, 1997, Jon experienced his proudest moment with
the company. His dad, Jack, turned the company over to his sons, and Jon is happy to carry on the family
legacy and moving Genz-Ryan into the 21st century.

Bridget Wenzel, the Design Studio Manager, hails from North Dakota and attended the University of
Minnesota-Moorhead. She received her Bachelor’s degree and moved to Apple Valley. During her sales positions

did not go unrecognized. In her first sales position, she was awarded Employee of the Month when she surpassed
previous sales records her first month on the job. She accomplished this same goal again a few months later!
She is a great addition to our team, and we know more records lie in her future.
